The Drink List
Here is a list of my current favourites and where you can get them. I consider all of these wines to be excellent value for what’s on offer. Value can be difficult to judge but what I will say is that, upon tasting these wines I would have guessed they were more expensive than their actual price. Due to my love of Italian food and wine, you will notice that most of the wines mentioned are Italian. I have bought and drank all of these wines.

Big and smooth – a beautiful Winter wine to be enjoyed in front of the fire. Blackcurrant and plum to the fore with vanilla and spice. Good value at €21.
The Red I choose for our wedding – need I say more?!
Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages – €13 in Dunnes Stores
Red fruit forward, more lively than a lot of Beaujolais. High acidity with medium tannins and a medium finish – perfect with chicken or pork.
A breath of fresh air. Light and fruity with no oak to weigh it down. I’m not usually a fan of Rioja but this is wonderful.
Big, bold and dark. Lots of dark fruit with underlying vanilla, pepper, spice and smoke. Almost Port like, a beauty.
Blackberry and raspberry to the fore with anise, vanilla and a hint of smoke. A pleasing acidity to cut through the richness with gentle tannins and a medium finish. Exceptional value.
It’s Winter – I’m not drinking any whites!
